The Lost Lending Library | Punchdrunk (UK)

A travelling museum of curiosities has arrived on the Gold Coast ready to welcome visitors.

Enter ‘Coastal Curiosities’ and you’ll find a magical secret: a doorway to a hidden world. In The Lost Lending Library, young imaginations are urgently needed to write new stories for the permanent collection. Discover a remarkable way to inspire young minds in this immersive experience for children and their families.

This is a 45-minute experience.

The performance has limited capacity.  Session bookings will be taken onsite from 9am daily until the capacity is reached. Adults must be accompanied by a child.

Recommended for ages 5-12 years.

This is an immersive theatre performance that the audience experiences inside of a custom-built set, which includes some narrow spaces and limited floor space. There is capacity for one person who uses a wheelchair per performance. When making a booking onsite, please advise Festival 2018 staff if you have this requirement.

At 2pm on Saturday 7, Wednesday 11, Friday 13 and Sunday 15 April there will be relaxed performances open to everyone. These are suitable in particular for persons with a disability. There will be performances with Auslan translation at 11am on Sunday 8, Monday 9 and Tuesday 10 April. Bookings will be taken on show days for these performances.

About the creators:

Since 2000, Punchdrunk has pioneered a game changing form of theatre in which roaming audiences experience epic storytelling inside sensory theatrical worlds. The company has developed a phenomenal reputation for transformative productions that focus as much on the audience and the performance space as on the performers and narrative.

Whilst based in the United Kingdom, Punchdrunk's production 'Sleep No More' (a retelling of Shakespeare's Macbeth) has played to sell-out audiences in New York for almost seven years, and in Shanghai the show recently celebrated its first anniversary.

Punchdrunk Enrichment takes the company's innovative practice to young people and communities. Integral to the creation of this work is the same commitment to exemplary design and performance that defines Punchdrunk's large-scale productions.

Past productions include 'The House Where Winter Lives' (2014), which toured to Perth International Festival, and 'Against Captain's Orders' (2015) with the National Maritime Museum, London.

The Lost Lending Library is co-produced for Festival 2018 by Punchdrunk and Imaginary Theatre, a Brisbane-based company that creates art and arts experiences for and with children and their communities.

Supported by City of Gold Coast.
