Kate Miller-Heidke, Ella Fence and Regurgitator
Don't miss new music by indie pop darling Kate Miller-Heidke - backed by the guitar shredding of Keir Nutgall and a string quartet.
Multi-award-winning singer songwriter Kate Miller-Heidke is renowned for a style that crosses contemporary pop, folk and opera. She has released four critically acclaimed studio albums, and produced the multi-platinum hit singles 'The Last Day On Earth' and 'Caught in the Crowd'.
More recently, shes made forays into the world of music theatre, composing the opera 'The Rabbits' (2015) and, with collaborator Keir Nuttall, the music and lyrics for 'Muriel's Wedding: The Musical' (2017).
This is her only Gold Coast performance on her national tour - so don't miss it!
Award winning Gold Coast songwriter/performer Ella Fence is a prolific artist in live music venues, in the studio and on the stage. Ella has toured and performed in USA, Berlin, France, England (including Great Escape Festival), Canada (Canadian Music Week), and Norway, as well as nationally across Australia.
Ella’s latest single release, ‘Hollow Drum’, from her soon to be released EP, was received with accolades, scoring airplay on commercial radio station Hit105 and triple j, and was also added to rotation on triple j Unearthed and Brisbane’s 4ZZZ.
This EP is a collaboration with APRA award winning songwriter/ producer and multi-instrumentalist The Audacious Vinnie LaDuce (M.T. Warning, Feeding Fauna, Ash Grunwald, The Winnie Coopers). Together, they created a unique mix of bold synthesisers, programmed beats and powerhouse vocals; a passionate, raw take on Ella’s experiences as a strong uncompromising artist. It's music from an artist that knows what she wants to say and what she likes to hear.
The tracks from the upcoming EP were well received by audiences Australia wide during Ella's Motel Tour, where fans had the exclusive opportunity to hear the unreleased music from the EP. The tour was like no other, with the new live show intimately performed to fans inside motel rooms in secret locations, by a band of multi-instrumentalists, playing everything from guitars, to synthesizers, to vocals, with Ella at the forefront.
LATE NIGHT PARTY
Brisbane’s Regurgitator started in 1994 and quickly established themselves as an articulate and witty purveyor of the Australian music scene.
They assembled a mishmash of funk, punk, pop, electronics and any other style that stuck to the sides, with unmitigated irony and a geekish nature.
After a series of resounding performances they embarked on their first tour of Europe before stopping in Bangkok to record their first album 'Tu Plang' (Thai for ‘jukebox’). The band followed this up with the multi-platinum 'Unit' (1997) – an even quirkier mix up with 80s flavours and headed out extensively across Australia, Japan and the US.
After numerous tours and appearances on music festivals including Australia’s Big Day Out, Japan’s Fuji Rock, Britain's Reading, Hong Kong’s Rock It) and two more albums: '.. art' (1999); 'Eduardo & Rodriguez Wage War on T-Wrecks' (2001) they embarked on an independent career. Their first album in this direction Mishmash (2004) was created.
The next album “Love and Paranoia” was recorded in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and subsequent touring in Australia, including the 2008 Big Day Out tour plus shows in the UK, Hong Kong, Laos, Vietnam and China. Late 2009 they played a festival in the Japanese Alps with Hoodoo Gurus. before working with dance choreographer Gavin Webber on the live music/dance/theatrical project Rock Show at QPAC in Brisbane.
Over the years Regurgitator has went onto having further success including the release of more music and playing at more festivals.
