Family Interactive Installation Australian premiere

Impulse | Lateral Office & CS Design (CAN)

Take a ride on one of 10 illuminated musical see-saws in this award winning interactive art playground, Impulse.

You'll become the musician and artist as your movement and rhythm activate the light and sounds of the seesaw.

Impulse is a giant instrument and composition that is constantly changing. When see-saws are played at the same time, they create musical harmonies and dynamic light waves.

You can play up-close or see Impulse from a distance as a fascinating urban panorama. Impulse has lit up public spaces across Canada, United States of America, United Kingdom, Europe and the Middle East. Now, the installation visits the Southern Hemisphere for the first time to light up the beach. Don't miss this magical experience.

This event takes place on the beach. Some of the see-saws will be positioned on beach matting for wheelchair access, which is accessible via a ramp from the footpath on The Esplanade. A degree of mobility is required to use the see-saws.

About the creators:
Lateral Office is an experimental design practice that operates at the intersection of architecture, landscape, and urbanism. CS Design is a consultancy that approaches lighting design from the perspective of architect.
