At its debut games, Namibia’s legendary Frankie Fredricks won a gold medal in the men’s 200m and bronze in the men’s 100m sprints. He reclaimed the 200m title at the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games. At the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games, Japhet Uutoni claimed a third gold medal for Namibia in boxing. The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games saw an additional silver medal in boxing and two bronze medals in athletics added to Namibia’s overall medal tally of 18.
