Games Medals Tally
A former Portuguese territory, the Republic of Mozambique joined the Commonwealth in 1995 and made its debut at the Kuala Lumpur 1998 Commonwealth Games, at which it won gold and silver medals in the women’s 800m.
Middle distance runner Maria Mutola claimed the gold medal – a feat she repeated at the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games, before winning a bronze medal in the same event at the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.
Mozambique was represented in athletics, badminton and swimming at the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games. At the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games it added a silver and bronze medal in athletics and boxing to its overall medal tally.
