Games Medals Tally
Grenada is the most southerly of the Windward Islands in the eastern Caribbean. Its neighbours include Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago.
Despite not joining the Commonwealth until 1974, Grenada made its debut appearance at the Edinburgh 1970 Commonwealth Games. It attended the next three editions of the Commonwealth Games before missing three editions and returning to participate at the Kuala Lumpur 1998 Commonwealth Games.
Medal success eluded Grenada until the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games when Alleyne Francique won the silver medal in the men’s 400m sprint. Grenada won two medals, a gold and a bronze, in athletics at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. Gold medallist in the men’s 400m sprint with a time of 44:24, Kirani James, was also the flag bearer for Grenada in the Opening Ceremony.
