Games Medals Tally
Located in West Africa, the Republic of Ghana (formerly the Gold Coast) lies on the Gulf of Guinea and is surrounded by the Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso and Togo.
Ghana became a member of the Commonwealth in 1957 but has been a regular participant in the Commonwealth Games since 1954, missing only the Edinburgh 1986 Commonwealth Games.
Whilst Ghana’s debut appearance at the Vancouver 1954 Commonwealth Games and attendance at the Brisbane 1982 Commonwealth Games failed to deliver medals, it has secured medals at every other games it has attended. This includes the Jamaica 1966 Commonwealth Games, which provided the stage for Ghana’s biggest haul of gold medals: five. Most recently, Ghana won two bronze medals at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games in judo and boxing.
