The People’s Republic of Bangladesh (formerly East Pakistan) joined the Commonwealth in 1972 but did not make its first appearance at a Commonwealth Games until 1990. It won two medals on debut: a gold and bronze, both in shooting.
Bangladesh won a second gold medal in shooting at its fifth games, the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games. A silver medal was won at the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games and a second bronze medal was won at the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games, both in shooting. Bangladesh also won a second silver medal in the same sport at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Thirty athletes represented Bangladesh at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games in shooting, weightlifting, wrestling, cycling, badminton, swimming, gymnastics, table tennis, badminton and boxing.
