My dad George is the founder and inventor of the Birdman Rally. Created in England by him in 1971 to raise funds for the Royal Air Force Association (RAFA) for Retired Personnel. After immigrating to Australia, he brought the Birdman Rally with him and 46 years later they are still going strong. This event has provided much laughter to so many people and most importantly to Dad. He is a special guest each year at Moomba, and was very proud to receive the Lord Mayors Award for people who make a difference to Melbourne. He truly embodies the requirement of providing a fun, friendly and vibrant experience to the wider community.

Sonya has supported the community by participating in the 140km charity event, The Great Wheelbarrow Race, for 11 years. She volunteers for a local sporting club, Adventure Sport NQ, where if Sonya is not participating she is helping with catering, marshalling and course setup. Sonya has supported and inspired me to run. In May 2016, both Sonya and I completed the Ultra Trail Australia 100km trail race at Katoomba Blue Mountains (NSW). I could not have achieved this personal goal without her support. Sonya also works for Flexi Choice, which is an organisation who supports adults and children with disabilities in our community.
