XXXX Gold announced as official beer of GC2018

30 Aug 2017
XXXX Gold has today been revealed as the official beer of GC2018, 35 years after XXXX was the official beer for the Brisbane games back in 1982.

A Queensland icon, Lion is one of Australia’s largest food and beverage companies with a long and proud history of supporting the state through major events and sporting clubs.

As the official beer and cider of the Games, GOLDOC Chairman Peter Beattie AC revealed brands from across the XXXX family, including Summer Bright Lager, will be activated in venues and at various festival zones throughout the Gold Coast and three event cities Brisbane, Townsville and Cairns.

The Games are more than just 11 days of world class sport. Outside of competition there are a number of ways to enjoy the Games experience including Festival 2018 and the associated arts and culture festival. XXXX will bring the GOLD to the Gold Coast.

Lion Marketing Director, Ben Slocombe said XXXX is excited to continue its support of Queensland on the world stage, partnering with the largest event the state has ever seen.

We are really excited to be part of the Commonwealth Games for next year. The number one beer in the country gets to support this huge event and where better to do it than on the Gold Coast, Queensland.

It has been 35 years since the Brisbane games and XXXX can’t wait for next April so we can help Aussies TAKE THE GOLD while they cheer for the Australian teams.

Announcing that Lion’s partnership will extend to the Australian Team, Commonwealth Games Australia CEO, Craig Phillips is pleased to have the new sponsor on board.

We are delighted to have Lion and XXXX on board with the Australian Commonwealth Games Team.

While our athletes are focused on performance, it is the atmosphere and the celebration that surrounds a home Commonwealth Games that makes it extra special for all involved and I’m sure XXXX will play a big part in that by allowing Aussie fans to take in the Gold responsibly.
