Tallebudgera Creek and Coolangatta are popular destinations for families, as well as picturesque South Stradbroke Island, which is accessible by boat or water taxi.

For a rainforest escape, venture into the beautiful Gold Coast Hinterland and stay amongst the tranquil greenery at a camping ground, cabin, or one of the many retreats, lodges and bed and breakfasts.

If you’re more at home on the water, book a houseboat and stay on the Broadwater. An equally unique option is a farm stay in Oxenford, close to GC2018 Boxing, Table Tennis and Squash.

Live like a local

From local markets to secluded walking trails and hidden restaurants and bars, to experience the local’s Gold Coast is to truly know it. Book a holiday house or private rental to immerse yourself in the region. Burleigh Heads, Miami, Palm Beach and Currumbin offer a coastal experience away from the bigger crowds.

Nerang, Carrara, Ashmore and Benowa’s central location makes these suburbs well-connected to public transport and close to Carrara Precinct, which will host GC2018 Athletics, the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Wrestling, Weightlifting, Para Powerlifting and Badminton.

Robina, Helensvale, Coomera and Oxenford are also within easy reach of several GC2018 venues. Homestays are available across the coast.

Stay in the heart of the action

Broadbeach, Surfers Paradise and Southport will be full of activity during the Games, with major Festival 2018 hubs nearby. Here, you’ll be in the midst of all the Games action. Nearby suburbs Mermaid Beach, Mermaid Waters, Main Beach, Labrador, Biggera Waters and Broadbeach Waters are well-placed near the festivities and events. Book into a hotel, motel, hostel, backpackers or apartment.

As one of Australia’s most popular tourist destinations, the Gold Coast features a number of premium resorts, retreats and hotels. If you’re after an indulgent Games experience, you’ll have your choice of luxury accommodation from the hinterland to the coast.

There are a range of options close to all GC2018 venues and remember, public transport to and from events is free for all ticketed spectators on the South East Queensland public transport network.

4. Stay a while

Many accommodation providers may require a minimum night stay during Games time. Search for a five-night minimum stay for the best results. Tickets for GC2018 events are still on sale and you can also or enjoy the arts and culture events at Festival 2018.
